Woaah there. Highly subjective from culture to culture, age set and generation as well! I’d say for the answer to this question do some leg-work and check out pictures and videos of belly dancers who aren’t always popular but like to do it. Eye-opening.
After all, long arms are desirable, but if you cannot articulate with them, it is like a man who has a large dangling participle, but can’t do much with it.

bellydancing is just another form of exercising. if you do it regularly and combine it with a healthy diet (remember, no amount of exercise can replace healthy food!) you do have some weight loss and a more toned body, and a healthier heart.

It’s for people who …
It’s for people who can’t afford to take traditional classes, or those who simply don’t have the time. Unless there’s a video that can clearly instruct me on the way of traditional dancing, I’ll just use this for now…(btw, I do agree with you on the science thing…driver’s ed…my god…)
