Dance lessons?
Author: admin
One of my friends and I are thinking about taking a dance class. We started looking up different types of dance and there are so many different ones like tap, ballet, jazz, and hip hop. Which class would be best for beginners like us? Keep in mind that we have no experience in dancing, whatsoever.
All answers are appreciated. =]
This is my 23rd year of dance now, and I am also a choreogrpher. If you guys are up for two classes, then I think ballet and jazz will be the best for you. Although many people think it is boring, ballet is the core of the whole dance system and our modern dance today would be nothing withou it. Ballet helps your technique for ALL types of dance. With the exception of hip-hop sometimes.
Jazz is a lot of fun. It is more upbeat and creative. However, it may seem a whole lot different than ballet. But, it isn’t. You need to take ballet to take jazz. It helps you SO much. More than you think it will.
Hip-hop is a little more raw. You might want to hold off on it for a couple of years. Maybe until you start thinking that you really want to take up dance and be more serious about it.
Hope this helps! Have a nice weekend!
